You are invited to join us for our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 18th January 2024 at the Kings Manor Hotel.
The AGM is an important part of the process of running a club like ours.  It gives the members an opportunity to play an active part in choosing the future direction of the club, to feed into the committee any complaints, concerns, ideas that you may have and to agree on the composition of the committee itself.
The AGM gives the committee an opportunity to provide transparency around how the club is administered, for example, how we collect and use your membership fees, what our obligations are to Scottish Athletics, what the future looks like for coaching within the club, how we choose training venues etc.  It also enables us to put to a member vote any changes to the way the club is run where a vote is either required by the club’s constitution or deemed appropriate by the committee.
In order to be quorate, and therefore able to make administrative decisions, we need at least 30 attendees.  With a membership of over 170 people this should be an easily achievable target but it’s certainly not guaranteed.  I would urge you to come along if you can find the time and help steer the club on its future course.
If you have a particular issue or idea that you’d like to discuss on the night with your fellow club members you can contact any committee member (including myself), in person or via the contact form on our website.  If you raise an issue this way in advance and you attend on the night it’ll be discussed.  Of course, depending on the number of items, it may not be possible to resolve or conclude on every item but it will be minuted and a course of follow up action agreed.
There’s also an important social element to the AGM.  You’ll have a rare opportunity to chat to your club mates with your heart rate somewhere below 160 bpm and with some feeling in the tips of your fingers.  There’s usually tea and coffee provided (maybe even a biscuit), and the bar better be open.
I’m sure I speak for all of the committee when I say we hope to see you there.
