Portobello RC – Club Championship
2024 Races
- Points are awarded to paid members who compete in any of the races listed below.
- The points awarded are based on finishing position relative to other club members within their category, starting with 10 points for 1st place down to 1 point for 10th place.
- Anyone completing a race outside the top 10 in their category will be awarded 1 point.
- Categories are: MS, FS, M40, F40, M50, F50, M60, F60
- Your category is based on your age/sex on 1st January 2024 irrespective of your category in individual races. If you turn 40 in 2024 after 1st January, you will still be treated as a Senior for club champs purposes even though you may be racing as a V40 in some races after your birthday.

- Competitors must complete at least 5 events to qualify for the championships.
- These 5 events may include any one marathon and any one ultra-marathon.
- In the case of marathons your finishing time will be compared against the finishing times of your club mates in their marathons.
- In the case of ultra-marathons your finishing time as a percentage of the winning male/female in that race will be compared to those of your club mates in theirs.
- In the event of a tie i.e. when two or more members within the same category win an ultra-marathon, all winners will receive 10 points.
- The championship winner will be the competitor with the highest number of points at the end of the year from their best 5 events.
- In the event of a tie the winner will be the competitor who has completed the most events.
• For Cross-Country events you will need to be a member of Scottish Athletics.
* Some specifics of these rules are likely to be discussed and confirmed at the 2024 AGM and may therefore be subject to some minor changes. The general theme will remain the same: Friendly competition with your club mates, score points.
