Who we are
This is the official website of the Portobello Running Club (PRC). The website address is: https://www.portobellorc.co.uk. The current chairperson is Richard Hadfield; other club officials are listed here. We are a non-commercial organisation and any surplus funds generated by membership fees and our annual beach race are donated to a named charity each year.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
-Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
-Contact forms
The contact form on the “Contact Us” page is subjected to spam filtering and geo-blocking (which blocks attempts to contact us from countries notorious for generating spam robots and hacking.) Information passed to us by you through the contact form box will be deleted after one month.
-Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics
We do not perform any analysis of the personal data we collect, or outsource this to a third party such as Google Analytics. Anonymised site traffic data is analysed by AWstats at server level and available to the site administrator. AWStats is an open source server log analyser that creates advanced web server statistics reports so that site administrators can get a detailed overview of site performance. AWstats generates graphic displays of such parameters as daily, weekly and monthly hits on the site, from which countries and from which i.p. addresses, the duration of visits, hits from robots, numbers of pages downloaded and so on. No personal data such as names, age or gender is involved.
Who we share your data with
We do not share any data with advertisers or marketing companies. When you join the club or register as a competitor in our annual beach race you will be directed away from our site to Entry Central. All data, personal and financial, is handled by Entry Central, a company which fully complies with all General Data Protection Regulations as explained in its Privacy Policy. Portobello Running Club receives no financial information about you and does not store any of your personal or financial data on our website. Only the club membership secretary and the Beach Race organiser can access the (non-financial) data on Entry Central for the purpose of creating a club membership list and a race entry list respectively, both of which are deleted each year. Both these club officials have had their bona fides verified by Entry Central using passport details with photographs.
How long we retain your data
When you have visited Entry Central to pay for for annual membership or the annual race your details will be automatically deleted by Entry Central after 6 months or until the end of the membership year. The membership secretary and race organiser will delete membership data and race entry data they collect from Entry Central at the end of each year.
In the event of a data breach
PRC stores very little personal data and no financial information on our website. It is protected from malicious attacks by industry-standard security at server level as well as on-site WordPress security plugins. In the event of a data breach we are obliged to follow the procedures set out in the GDPR legislation.
