The second race of the East Lothian Summer Series took place in Haddington on a mild but windy Wednesday 3rd July. Seventeen Porty’s were amongst a field of 62 finishers, (notable mentions listed below.)
The route starts outside the entrance to the golf club before a series of left-hand turns taking in a B class road, a narrow trail section, a bridge over the River Tyne, and a gravel path running parallel to the A1 before finishing back outside the entrance to the golf club. The water and cubes of tablet at the end were gratefully received. Although competitive, all races in the ELSS have a good atmosphere and represent a good chance to take part in a midweek event. The next race in the series takes place at Archerfield on 9th July.
Graeme Thom – fourth overall, second in age category.
Lizzy Polgreen – first female overall
Heather Darling – second female overall
David Worrall – second V40 male
Alisa Winters – first V40 female
Tracy Philp – third V50 female
Shona MacDonald – second V40 female
Willie Jarvie – second V60 male
Overall, there were three Portobello affiliated runners in the top ten and eight in the top twenty. Well done to all those who took part.
